In this post, I have composed the best laptops in the budget range and I’ll include the upcoming ones as soon as they launch. Here are my top picks in three different price ranges. My primary focus here is Price to Performance and good specifications

Price Range 1 : 55k-65k

HP Pavilion

HP Pavilion
HP Pavilion

  • Top of the line 4600H which destroys i7 9th and 10th gen
  • NVIDIA GTX 1650 performance on the go
  • 8GB Of DDR4 RAM(Upgradable up to 16 GB)

Cons :

This gaming machine comes with a 1TB HDD drive storage option and can be upgraded up to 1TB HDD + 1TB SSD easily (need to be purchased separately). The PCIe NVMebased SSD Flash storage is 17x faster than any traditional 5400 rpm laptop hard drive(HDD). The increased storage also induces a smoother experience by reducing the strain on your device and letting your machine boot up in seconds.

With up to 6 cores of pure processing power. The latest AMD Ryzen 5 – 4600H processor coupled with 8GB DDR4 RAM brings you the ultimate experience. You can upgrade the RAM up to 16GB.

Acer Aspire 7

Acer Aspire 7
Acer Aspire 7

  • Intel i5-9th gen CPU
  • 8GB Of DDR4 Memory
  • 1650 performance with minimal heating
  • Great build quality (Doesn’t look like a cheap laptop)
  • 512 GB SSD.

Cons :

  • The battery capacity is small and may only last 4-5 hrs depending on how you optimize it.
  • No n-key rollover
  • Speakers are average, could’ve been a bit better.

With the 9th Gen Intel Core CPU, this laptop delivers a power-packed performance. This comes with 8 GB upgradeable up to 32 GB and 1 TB M.2 PCIe SSD capacity. If you are getting this laptop around 55k. Buy this right now without any hesitation. As it doesn’t break your bank and yet provides good specifications. This laptop will serve you easily for the next 4-5 years without any problem. I highly recommend this laptop to anyone.

Price Range 2 : 77k-85k

ROG Strix 15

ASUS ROG Strix G15
Asus ROG Strix G15

Key Specifications :

  • Great Build quality
  • 144hz display
  • 1650ti with sufficient cooling for overclocking headroom.
  • 512gb SSD with respectable speeds

Cons :

  • i5-10th gen processor(Will provide more fps than Ryzen 4600h anyways but the price to performance is a bit low. But Still, for the majority, it really should not matter.)
  • 8 GB RAM ( Easy to upgrade should you wish)
  • 48 Watt hr battery. (Not good for more than 2-4 hrs if you travel a lot)

This laptop features an easy-upgrade design, which makes it easy for you to make modifications to the laptop. Featuring 8GB of RAM out of the box it is easily upgradeable up to 32 GB. You can automatically switch between different operating modes to ensure optimized performance and acoustics based on different apps and games

With USB 3.2 Type-C with DisplayPort to give you fast transfers. You can also connect another monitor to enjoy better multitasking. With three Type-A USB 3.2 Gen 1 ports, you can connect all your essential gear. HDMI 2.0b enables you to watch movies or play games on a 4K TV or monitor.

HP Omen 15

HP OMEN 15

Key Specifications :

  • A nice keyboard with white lighting
  • 4600H and 1660ti for a great price
  • Great cooling and battery life
  • Professional looking

Cons :

  • 60hz display (if you have a monitor at home this isn’t a big deal.)
  • Without 144hz screen, it will bottleneck the performance of 1660ti
  • That’s about all of it. Can’t think of any more really 🙂

Performance from the CPU and GPU is great, one can work for long durations without worrying about overheating. Both stay cool even under heavy load. The cooling and thermals are far better than any other laptop in this price category.

Keyboard and trackpad are very good, Though you will be limited to only white backlight in this version. Fan noise is almost non-existent under normal load and even if the fans are maxed out the noise output is still relatively low (even at max fan speed one can easily listen to audio output from speakers without any disturbance)

The display is quite decent but not that great. If this is a high priority for color accuracy (in case using for photo or video editing) then I would not suggest this. Personally I don’t see 144hz screen makes much of a difference for apart from gaming but I would like to have higher color accuracy.

Range 3: 90k-1L

Acer Nitro

Acer Nitro 7

Key Specifications :

  • INTEL Core i7 9th gen
  • NVIDIA GTX 1660ti
  • 144hz with good color (god finally)
  • 1 TB SSD (now you can finally install COD: Warzone)

Cons :

  • The build looks like you picked it up from a trash can. Probably get a couple of cuts and scratches, as you pick it up and open the screen. Keep a bandage around while using it.
  • Only 8 gigs of ram (for 1L, Really?) :/
  • Wifi 5 and not 6(probably not a deal-breaker for anyone)
  • Poor Thermal Design. (CPU temperatures hit 90-95°C on intensive gaming sessions)

This is the best laptop among all Nitro 7 available in India. The aluminum finish gives it a feel premium look. The metal design is prone to scratches, dents, be careful, and use a Skin/Cover for additional protection. 1 TB of SSD storage is a blessing at this price point.

This Laptop has a very good Display, It features a 144Hz,72% NTSC 300 nits display panel. If you are not a hardcore gamer, then you should definitely go for this laptop because of the value for money and lightweight which enables portability.

MSI GF65

MSI GF65

Probably the best laptop in value for money you can find right now…!

The MSIG65 is just awesome. You won’t get better hardware at this price point. It is very light and portable enough to carry around. The build quality of the laptop is very good. With the GTX 1660ti, you can crank up all the way to ultra on most AAA titles and expect some good frame rates 🙂

Do keep in mind that it only has additional support for SSD only no HDD support for this device. You can only extend the storage of this device by NVMe PCIe SSD not the regular 2.5inch HDD

Key Specifications :

  • Intel Core i7-9th gen
  • 16 GB of ram(Ufff….finally..!!!!!)
  • Good 144hz display
  • 512 GB SSD (Supports NVMe PCIe SSD expansion)
  • Great build quality
  • Nice keyboard (Even beats the HP Omen)
  • 80 Watt 1660ti, Small headroom for OverClocking 🙂

Cons :

  • Deep red accent on the whole laptop ( Aggressive Design)
  • Poor after-sale service.

In A Nutshell,

I’d suggest that not to spend beyond this price point on a laptop. Laptops have earned their place in the market but the hardware such as GPUs in laptop variants are inferior to their desktop variants and are bottlenecked by several different factors. An everyday user and prospective laptop buyer might not realize that the GPU in a laptop is not the same as the desktop counterpart, so you can’t expect the same performance.

This is not to say laptops are worthless and in fact they are getting more and more powerful thanks to innovations from companies like AMD,NVIDIA and INTEL.What we have today are very capable machines that you can carry around to various places, compared to a desktop PC, monitor, keyboard and mouse. So what you sacrifice in performance and value, tends to go towards portability.

With that said, it’s important to keep this in mind and choose accordingly what really matters the most to you. Performance Or Portability…?

With many more new laptop releases right around the corner with a lot more improvements, I’ll keep this post updated as they launch..! Stay tuned…!
