Features that are buzzing:

Granular control

It is a catchphrase for the security-minded and it’s a feature highlighted in Android 11’s app permission schema. Android 11 allows you to give an app permission to do something just once instead of Android 10’s current options ( always, never and only when the app is in use ). By giving an app permission to access your location, camera or microphone for a single session of app use, you can keep a check on what kind of data is being collected by your apps, and how often.

Scoped storage

Android 11’s scoped storage will create a sort of digital sandbox for each app so that it doesn’t interact with your other apps data in the same way they used to.

Biometric Boost

Android 11 is expanding your options for when you can use your face unlock or fingerprint to authenticate your apps and services. While we expect that option to focus on apps that need additional security like banking, health care etc.. Not everyone is handy to give their fingerprint or facial recognition data to Google, thereby its a peace offering to these people.

Digital secure vault

Android 11’s latest pitch to the privacy-minded person on the go building on wallet-free apps like Google pay, the OS now offers new support for secure identity document storage, such as a mobile driving license, Aadhar card etc.. The Android has to go to a long way to get to the most important security feature of any mobile operating system into the hands of it’s customer base operating system updates.

Convenient conversations

Android 11 also has improvements for messaging apps. Now users will be able to add images to notification replies. Chat bubbles can keep conversations in view while you are using other apps.

Background location access

In app dialog for location permissions, no layer includes the “allow all time” option.

Even if an app gains all-the-time access to location, users can change app’s location access to Allow only while using the app or Ask every time in system settings. Users can also deny location access completely.

Storage privileges

Android 11 has made many changes related to storage permissions, storage runtime permissions and the contents of dialog. If your app hasn’t opted out of scoped storage and requests the permission for external storage then your app is requesting access to photos, videos, audio clips and files. Then in your settings navigate to Privacy > Permission manager > Files and media page, your app is allocated for all files if permission is granted.

File descriptor sanitiser ( fdsan )

In Android 11 fdsan aborts upon detecting an error, the previous behaviour was to display a warning and then as usual continue the function. Fdsan detects and prevents the file descriptor mismanagement by enforcing file descriptor ownership fdsan as a user have four levels base on its severity:
Disabled
Warn-once: After displaying the error once and then disabling it and allowing the execution.
Warn-always: After displaying the error once, except without disabling after the first warning.
Fatal: Abort upon detection of an error.

There are many other softwares too, released to test, which intend to provide ease of work with current technologies like 5G, foldable screens ,MachineLearning procedures etc..
